Our Lady of Sorrows – in progress. A woman confr Our Lady of Sorrows – in progress.
A woman confronting pain.
This archetype of presence in suffering, of staying with it, goes beyond religion.
She is a mother, a guardian, a woman initiated through loss.
In Christian tradition, she is known as the Stabat Mater — a symbol of emotional maturity and spiritual strength.
It’s about the capacity to stay with what’s difficult.
To allow the heart to break.
The Green Lion appears mainly in the iconography o The Green Lion appears mainly in the iconography of medieval and Renaissance alchemy, and its image continues to captivate the imagination — including the artistic one. In alchemy, it represents wild, untamed energy, filled with the potential for transformation. Like in the Tarot card Strength, the lion symbolizes passion, fire, and the realm of instincts.

In medieval alchemical imagery, the Green Lion devours the Sun, which symbolizes light and spiritual essence. This moment signifies the operation of solutio — dissolution. The Green Lion, as the force of nature, instinct, or a corrosive element (such as acid), consumes the Sun — pure gold, spirit, divine essence.
Psychologically, it marks a moment of inner chaos, a dark night of the soul, when the wild, primal nature within begins to “dissolve” the current structure of the self. The breakdown of the ego is a necessary stage in spiritual transformation.

It is the threshold of initiation: we must allow our “golden” self-image to be destroyed in order to be reborn in truth. The Green Lion devouring the Sun is the moment of albedo or even nigredo in the Great Work (opus magnum) — when everything known and illuminated is swallowed by chaos. But not to vanish — rather to be reborn in a new form. Only after solutio can coagulatio, the reintegration, begin.

In my sculpture, the Green Lion becomes an embodiment of wild, vital, sexual energy — instinctual, primal, alive — no longer treated as an enemy. The woman is not afraid of this force — she draws ecstasy from it. She doesn’t suppress or control it — she is one with it. Her hand between her thighs is an act of sovereignty. It’s more than just masturbation — it’s a ritual of returning to herself.

The woman touches the source of life, her creative power, intuition, and ecstasy. She needs no external lover — she herself is love, tenderness, and fire.

And she does this on the back of the Green Lion — on the very force that we, as women, were culturally taught to fear: wildness, desire, instinct, chaos, primal power.

Solstice makes me wild, and holy.
As a child, I lived in a big city, but I learned t As a child, I lived in a big city, but I learned to recognize and connect with nature by the sea. Every year I would go there for the holidays and spend two months barefoot, exploring the pine forests that embrace the Polish coastline. The scent of sun-warmed pines, anthills as tall as the small human I was back then, protruding roots that I’d trip over, scraping my knees bloody, collecting amber at dawn, fighting for my life when I decided to swim during a storm, long treks through the dunes until exhaustion set in and the journey back felt endless.

It was already then that I made contact with the spirits. I knew that what surrounded me—the sea, the cool sand beneath my feet, the forest—was watching over me, taking care of me. Of course, I didn’t name it that way at the time; it was unconscious, and that’s what made it the most real, the most primal. I would spend hours swimming in the Baltic Sea, playing with the spirit of the sea, who could summon waves just for me even when the water around was still. To this day, the first thing I do when I step onto a beach is greet the spirit of the sea—my dear childhood friend.

Today I am lucky to live just an hour away from a quiet, uncrowded seaside village surrounded by forest. It is my temple, a place that nourishes my spirit. It’s also the place that inspired me, 15 years ago, to open my ceramics studio—but I’ll tell that extraordinary story another time.

Yesterday I returned from an arts and crafts fair held in another coastal town—a kind of marketplace for tourists, but without cheap goods from China; everything handmade by passionate creators from various fields. I had prepared a few sculptures representing sea people, but I didn’t sell a single one. Instead, I spent a wonderful time with a woman I recently met, who lives right by the sea and also works with ceramics. I’m grateful for that encounter and for the closeness of the sea, which I love—because it reminds me of little Marta, the little shaman girl who used to dance with the spirits of the shore. (Continued in the comments).
Chanterelle. I made this sculpture two weeks ago d Chanterelle. I made this sculpture two weeks ago during a sculpture open-air workshop that I led.
I fired it in the flames yesterday and it turned out amazing…
Mushrooms have always fascinated me.
I love them all — each species, each shape, each mysterious form of life.
Raku still hides many mysteries from me.
The outcome always surprises me — and that’s exactly what I love most about this technique. Every time I prepare a sculpture for the fire, I enter the sacred space of not-knowing. Firing the Chanterelle in flames went beyond anything I hoped for. She came out so beautiful. The smoke-blackened finish brought out her eyes perfectly. I’m in love with the softness I managed to catch — that subtle, soulful expression. And those crackles — just look at them!
Before the sculpture meets the fire, it must recei Before the sculpture meets the fire, it must receive its final layer - the glaze.
This is where the alchemy begins.

Raku glaze is unpredictable. It offers no guarantees. But it gives you magic.

It’s a moment that teaches me, every time, to trust.
A moment when I’m fully aware of my intention,
when I know what result I’d like to see -
but I surrender, in humility and faith.
Already at this stage, I’m willing to embrace both failure and spectacular success.

I’ve been working as a ceramic artist for nearly 15 years and if I’ve learned anything, it’s that I know nothing.
Already now, I let go of control.
Whatever happens, happens.

Soon - the fire. The transformation.
But first - this.
This moment, when the clay is sealed in its final skin…
And waits.
I’ve been away from here for quite a while. Not I’ve been away from here for quite a while.
Not because I stopped creating — I didn’t. But life felt heavy for a bit.
There was a moment when I seriously considered quitting my business.
Not because I lost my passion — creating is my element.
But all the other stuff — taxes, paperwork, the pressure of running everything alone — it wore me out.
I even went to a job interview. A regular 9 to 5 job. Fixed salary. Paid vacation. Sick leave.
All the privileges I never had while working for myself.

It was tempting.
But then I had a moment of clarity: I’m not ready to give up what I have.
My freedom, my creativity, the space to be fully myself.
Even if this path is hard sometimes.

So here I am — coming back.
No fireworks, no big strategy.
Just a quiet return to sharing what I make.
Maybe some of you are still here. Maybe new ones will arrive.

And maybe you’ll say hi?
Let me know you’re here — wave, drop a heart, leave a word.
Tell me what brings you here. Are you curious about my new sculptures?
Do you enjoy seeing the creative process behind the scenes?
Or maybe you’re drawn to the woman behind it all — her story, her strength, her past?

Whatever it is — thank you for being here.
Truly.

These sculptures are absolutely AMAZING! I had been looking for unique African sculptures that were not made of wood. Marta took great pleasure in creating exacting what I wanted. They are so detailed and life like. It is evident that a lot of thought and time was put into these beautiful creations. My order came sooner than expected even during COVID19.
